Korea Republic men’s and women’s national teams are taking part in a series of friendly matches in September, with the U-23 side set to make a home debut at the end of the month.
Paulo Bento’s charges will face Costa Rica in Goyang on 23 September, before taking on Cameroon in Seoul four days later. Both games are scheduled kick off at 8pm.
Costa Rica and Cameroon have qualified for the FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar this year. Currently ranked at 34th – six steps behind Korea Republic – in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World ranking, Costa Rica have claimed their place in the world finals for the third time in a row since Brazil 2014. Cameroon, ranked at 38th, will be participating in their eighth finals at Qatar 2022.
Colin Bell’s side will take on Caribbean powerhouse Jamaica at Hwaseong Sports Complex Main Stadium on 3 September. This is the first meeting between Korea Republic and Jamaica. Jamaica have recently qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals by finishing third behind the United States and Canada in the CONCACAF championship.
Meanwhile, the U-23 national team for the Olympics are getting ready for their first friendly match at home. Hwang Sunhong’s side will welcome Uzbekistan to Hwaseong on 26 September, as they continue preparations for the showpiece event at Paris 2024.
The abovementioned matches will be broadcast live on TV Chosun and Coupang Play.
