The final squad of Korea Republic women’s national team to participate in the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup has been confirmed.

Colin Bell, who had overseen the training camp at Namhae Sports Park since last week, announced his final list of 23 players on Monday. Amongst the 25 players who had been called up earlier this month, Eo Heejin and Jeoun Eunha of Suwon FC were ruled out due to injuries, whilst the quartet of overseas-based players – Cho Sohyun (Tottenham Hotspur), Ji Soyun (Chelsea), Lee Geummin (Brighton & Hove Albion) and Lee Youngju (Madrid CFF) – have made the list.

The Taegeuk Nangja are scheduled to have a photo shoot event at the main stadium of Namhae Sports Park on Wednesday, before leaving for India on Saturday. Korea Republic are pitted against Vietnam, Myanmar and Japan in Group C.

The continental finals will also act as the qualifier for the FIFA Women’s World Cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2023. Top five teams will qualifier for the world finals, with a possibility for a sixth-ranked side to be given another ticket should hosts Australia finish within the top five. Two more teams will be given second chances to qualify, advancing to the intercontinental playoffs.

Korea Republic are aiming to qualify for the Women’s World Cup for the third time in succession after taking part in the 2015 and the 2019 editions, with another goal of reaching the Asian summit for the first time.
