Korea Republic women’s national team will host a two-game friendly series against New Zealand at the end of this month.

The KFA has confirmed on Thursday that Colin Bell’s side will welcome New Zealand to ‘Women’s National Team Friendly Series presented by Shinsegae Emart’ at Goyang Stadium on 27 and 30 November. The kick-off times are scheduled at 2pm and 7pm respectively.

The attendance and the ticketing schedules are to be announced at a later date. Last time the women’s national team hosted a friendly was two years and seven months ago in April 2019, when the Taegeuk Nangja played against Iceland in the buildup to the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019.

More recently, the women’s national team have warmed up for the finals of the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup with a series of friendlies with the United States (a draw and a defeat) last month. They are set to continue their preparations for the continental finals, which will take place in India in January. Korea Republic have been pitted against Japan, Vietnam and Myanmar in the group stage, and will compete for a place in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals by finishing at least fifth.

As the co-hosts of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023 with Australia, New Zealand are hoping to achieve good results at the finals. The Football Ferns are currently ranked 23rd in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking as of August, whereas the Taegeuk Nangja are in 18th place. Korea Republic have the edge in head-to-head record against New Zealand, with five wins, five draws and a defeat in 11 previous encounters between the sides. In their most recent meeting at a four-nation tournament in Australia in March 2019, Korea Republic claimed a 2-0 win with goals from Ji Soyun and Moon Mira.
