Nike revealed their new football kits for 2020 Korea Republic National Football Team with brand new designs. The new kits received a major redesign emblematic of Korea’s culture and ‘Hallyu’ from their designs, patterns to their fonts.

The home kit represents the Korean Wave with a wavy pattern, along with showing the three colors of Korean flag, starting from vibrant pink on the upper body to the bright red through the torso and the bottom. Comprised of the trigrams from the national flag, the wavy pattern continues to the back of the kit of which he trigrams also appear within the names and numbers. The collar and sleeve trim are black with black side stripes that are read “Daehan Minguk” in Korean characters and “KOREA” in English, which also appears on the socks.

A sacred creature believed to be a guardian animal in Korean mythology, the white tiger symbolizes courage and power. The away kit makes a bold statement on and off the pitch with a striking white tiger print on the jersey and socks. All of the stripes in the print were originally hand-painted by Nike’s design team, complemented by metallic gold Swoosh and crest applications, looking more luxurious than before.

In addition to the art of designing football kits, science is always at the forefront of the process. It all starts in the lab, where Nike captured data on more than 300 footballers and football-specific movements, to analyze how the kits will perform on body with regard to stretching, draping and fit. Using generative design, Nike then knitted kits that are faster wicking, more breathable and more stretching than the previous kits. The precision knitting that was used for the Nike Flyknit Sneakers is reinforced where needed and vented in areas prone to heat.

Korea’s new kits will be extended to the collection that includes unique items such as overalls and sweatshirts, as well as significantly more women’s apparel than the previous years.
