Korea Republic cruised past Uzbekistan 5-1 in a friendly at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Friday. Kim Tae-Hwan, Yun Il-Lok and Park Jong-Woo gave hosts a three-goal lead before half-time, and although Temurkhuja Abdukhaliqov pulled one back for the Uzbeks, second half goals from Baek Sung-Dong and substitute Park Yong-Ji sealed the comprehensive victory.

Kim Tae-Hwan opened the scoring with only two minutes after the kick-off, volleying home from a Yun Il-Lok cross from the left. Moments later, Bae Chun-Suk missed a glorious opportunity to double the hosts¡¯ lead as the No10 miscued his shot from close range after the Uzbek defence had failed to clear the corner from Yun Suk-Young.

Kim then triggered the move that led to the second goal for the hosts on 16 minutes, when the FC Seoul midfielder broke free on the right before sending a low cross into the area. Yun Il-Lok collected the ball in the crowded goalmouth, turned around two defenders, before firing home a powerful shot past Sanjar Kuvvatov.

With both Yun and Kim marauding freely on the flanks to create more chances up front, it looked as though the third goal would arrive sooner rather than later. On 33 minutes, Park Jong-Woo curled a free-kick from the edge of the box into the top corner to make it 3-0.

The young Taeguk Warriors picked up where they had left off in the first. Yun slalomed on the left flank to send an in-swinging cross, only for Baek Sung-Dong to drag a low shot straight at substitute goalkeeper Viktor Mochalov. At the opposite end, Oybek Kilichev tried his luck with a rasping drive that went just over the crossbar.

However, the visitors managed to reduce the deficit ten minutes into the second half. Abdukhaliqov picked up the ball on the edge of the area before unleashing a powerful shot past Lee Beom-Young.

Coach Hong Myung-Bo responded by replacing forward Bae Chun-Suk with Park Yong-Ji, who made an instant impact with a surging run on the left flank. With Mochalov off his line to stop the pacey winger, Baek Sung-Dong collected a neat pass from Park to slide the ball into an empty net.

Park then put his name on the scoresheet on 67 minutes. Kim Tae-Hwan broke into the right side of the area before sending a low cross into the goalmouth, where Park was on hand to flick the ball in from close range.
