Coach Shin Taeyong explained that "we will use a strategy that we never used before" in an interview held last minute prior to the game. As Coach Shin explained, the selected line up was composed of 3-5-2 formation against England. There were many players who were not selected so far. England gradually increased offense opportunities after the 20'. However, in the 28', Ainsley Maitland-Niles, due to wounds, was suddenly substituted by Dominic Solanke who stayed at bench. Immediately after losing score, Coach Shin Taeyong took away Ha Seungun and Han Chanhee and substituted Lee Seungwoo and Lee Jinhyun in order to give a change in the defense line.

Korea struggled against England's fast attack. Lee Youhyeon at full back was requested for VAR by the chief referee because he stepped on the calf of the opponent player during the compete in the 65'. Fortunately, it was identified that the accident was unintentional. As the game did not go as it was expected, Coach Shin took away Lim Minhyeok and substituted Paik Seungho in the 79' for the last card.
