[Asian Games] Women's Team beats Thailand

Women’s team lightly dominated Thailand 5-0 at the first group match which was held at the Incheon Namdong Asiad Rugby Stadium on 14. Leading the game 2-0 with Jung Seol-bin(Hyundai Steel Red Angels WFC)’s first goal and Park Hee-young(Daejeon Sportstoto WFC)’s fantastic free kick goal, Korea defeat Thailand completely owing to the Yoo Young-a(Hyundai Steel Red Angels WFC), Jeon Ga-eul(Hyundai Steel Red Angels WFC), Choi Yu-ri(Ulsan College)’s consecutive three goals.

At the Vietnam Asian Cup group match on last May, Korea won the game 4-0 against Thailand with Park Eun-seon(Rossiyanka) and Ji So-yun(Chelsea Ladies). At this time, Korea showed various offense ways and finish without those two players and brightened the possibility of gold medal. Park Eun-seon can’t participate on the AG due to her club’s objection, and Ji So-yun joins after finishing group matches.

Korea won the most important match of group matches easier than expectation. Players showed stable states during whole the running time and unstable defense was disappeared completely. Coach Yoon put Hyundai Steel Red Angels WFC combie Jung Seol-bin(Hyundai Steel Red Angels WFC)- Yoo Young-a to the two top striker position and put Park Hee-young(Daejeon Sportstoto WFC)-Cho So-hyun(Hyundai Steel Red Angels WFC)- Kwon Hah-nul(Busan Sangmu WFC)-Jeon Ga-eul to the midfield. Also, Song Su-ran(Daejeon Sportstoto WFC)-Kim Do-yeon(Hyundai Steel Red Angels WFC)-Shim Seo-yeon(Goyang Daekyo WFC)-Kim Hye-ri(Hyundai Steel Red Angels WFC) composed of four back lines. Finally, Jun Min-kyung is selected as a goalkeeper.

Korea strongly pressed Thailand from the beginning of the match. In the 10th, team’s first goal was made by Jung Seol-bin’s feet. Jung Seol-bin cut off Thailand defender’s pass in front of the penalty box and made the strong left-foot goal. Thanks to the early goal, Korea played more stable game. Korea’s second ball was made in the 23rd. Yoo Young-a got the chance of free kick near the penalty box. For the fine chance, Park Hee-young kicked a free kick. Yoo Young-a tried her kick exactly into the side of goal net and the ball entered into the goal net after hitting upper side of goal post.

Fine flow was continued to the second half as well. In the 56th, Kwon Hah-nul was substituted by Lee So-dam(Ulsan College) who has helped the recent U-20 World Cup quarterfinal advancement. Right after the substitution, goal was made. In the 14th, Yoo Young-a received precise passing from Jung Seol-bin in the box and made team’s third goal. In the middle of second half, unexpected substitution was generated. When Song Su-ran who has defended right side well fell down due to muscle cramps, Coach Yoon replace Song Su-ran with Lim Seon-joo(Hyundai Steel Red Angels WFC). Because of defender substitution, Korea held back for a while but found stability soon.

In the 80th, Korea’s third goal was made. Breaking through the defensive lines, Jung Seol-bin passed the ball to Jeon Gae-eul when she had gotten 1 to 1 situation with a goalkeeper. Jeon Ga-eul calmly controlled the ball and scored team’s fourth goal. Korea pushed Thailand strongly until the whistling. Cho So-hyun who joined the game late made the last goal. Meanwhile, in terms of the same group’s another match India- Maldives, India defeated Maldives 15-0. Korea(winning point3, goal difference 5) is ranked 2 in the group due to the goal difference, following rank 3 of Maldives (winning point3, goal difference15).

Korea has the second group match with India at Incheon Namdong Asiad Rugby Stadium on 17 at 8pm.
